Prestige
Prestige is the collective representation of an individual's fame (how well known they are in Izarn and/or Zar) and affluence (how wealthy & powerful they are). This number is always between 0-100, and can be raised and lowered through game play by completing various actions.
Prestige also indicates where a character is in their province's class system (which is present in all provinces but Orhon, as it's communist), how many secors they receive each pay period, and what sort of housing they can afford. Characters that have a higher prestige will also have a bigger impact in political, provincial, and world-wide occurrences and decision making.
It's important to note that rank does not necessarily indicate prestige. While higher ranking individuals will often start out with higher prestige, it can drop, and lower ranking individuals can raise their prestige just as easily as higher ranks can.
Most characters will start out with a prestige between 10-50, or from lower class to middle class. On very rare occasion a character may be given out that has a prestige higher than this, but to keep game play fair, these are kept a minimum.
Effecting Your Prestige
Prestige does
not cost points. It is automatically raised or lowered depending on a character's IC actions. Prestige cannot be purchased, bartered, traded, or commissioned. It can only be
earned.

It is much harder to lower prestige than it is to gain it, but prestige is lowered much more drastically than it is raised, so it all equals out in the end.

Prestige Levels & Benefits
Low-Life: 0-10
Maybe you were just born on the wrong side of the tracks, or maybe you were caught in the wrong place at the wrong time once too many. You're generally looked down upon by society, and very likely homeless or a criminal.
● Can purchase lower class housing only
● Cannot enter any reputable business, without a high possibility of being kicked out
● Cannot start your own business
● Earn very little secor each month.
● Cannot join a guild
Impoverished : 11-20
So life is tough, huh? Well it's not going to get any easier! You're going to have to work hard if you want to go anywhere in life, and no one is likely to give you a break. How you want your life to go depends entirely on your actions. You can succumb to crime and begging, and become a low-life, or put all your effort into make life better, and slowly work your way up the ranks.
● Can purchase lower class housing only
● Cannot enter posh buildings, without a high possibility of being kicked out
● Can start your own business if you can afford it, but it'll be quite small and poor
● Earn very little secor each month
● May join a guild
Modest : 21-30
You have a tidy living, although all your dealings might not be entirely legal, and you haven't had your 5 seconds of fame. You're basically middle-class, and you're treated accordingly. You're one of a hundred thousand individuals living a monotonous life of work, home, work, home. It's comfortable, at least, and there's a roof over your head.
● May purchase up to lower middle-class housing
● May enter posh buildings, but you'll likely be asked to leave
● Can start your own business
● Earn a small, but tidy, amount of secor each month
● May join a guild
● Have voting rights in most provinces
Middle-of-the-Road : 31-40
Your life is pretty average, but also quite comfortable. You've got a roof over your head, a steady income, and you likely try to stay on the right side of the law (or at least you don't get caught). Life might not be too excited, but you make enough to have weekends off, and purchase a few "just for fun" goods.
● May purchase up to middle-class housing
● May enter posh buildings, with a low likelihood of being asked to leave
● Can start your own business, and hire employees
● Earn a modest amount of secor each month
● May join a guild
● Have voting rights in most provinces
Well-Off : 41-50
Doing good for yourself, I see? You still need to work, and you're far from being an upper class citizen, but you're certainly making headway! Your life is comfortable, if occasionally challenging. You might be working very hard to be where you are, but you're perfectly capable of taking some time off and getting the luxuries you want. You might not be famous, but this is a nice place to be in society.

Made a bit of a name for yourself, have you? People in your city probably know who you are and what you've done. You no longer need to work so hard to rake together some cash, and have a comfortable life (maybe even
cushy, some would say). You're not in want for anything, and have access to most of life's luxuries.
