Overview

Laeflings are tiny dragonets, about the size of a canary. They have lacy dragonfly-like wings which allow them to flitter about. The majority of laeflings do not have front legs, only strong back legs which they use to grip branches (or fingers!) for perching.

Diet: Omnivorous, they have a long, agile tongue which they use to lap up necter and honey, but they also enjoy eating small insects.

Social: Laeflings are incredibly social animals, and love to stay in large groups called "Boquet". Males are extremely territorial against other males, though, and will not allow any mature male within a two meter radius of their territory. Boquets consist of 1 male, and up to 5 females.

Communication: Laeflings communicate with various chirps, twitters, and squeaks. They can also produce a shrill warning cry when danger is afoot.

Breeding

Laeflings lay eggs, like most reptiles. A female may lay a clutch of 2-4 eggs during a breeding season, and all females in her Boquet will help warm and incubate the eggs. They build nests in trees, made of moss, sticks, bird feathers, and anything else safe and protective that they can find. Males will guard their nests ferociously, keeping away all predators and potential threats.

In order to breed, you must follow a few guidelines:

  • Your laeflings must belong to a Boquet.
  • Outside males may be used, but this is tricky and reduces the number of eggs in a clutch by 1.
  • If you are using an outside male, don't forget to pay the stud fees!
  • Females may only be bred once a month, but males may breed as often as they please.
